Community Supports

This is new territory for all of us. Every Jasper resident has experienced loss, and each person’s healing process is unique. Be kind to yourself and others as we navigate this difficult time together. Healing takes time, so allow yourself space to grieve.

For those still away from home, we can imagine how stressful this uncertainty is. Our hearts are with you. Support is available, and no one has to face this alone. Please see the list of resources below.

Jasper Recreation Opportunity Grants

Supports initiatives and programs that provide access to a diverse range of recreational activities and pursuits for all ages and developmental stages, and for every season. The goal of this program is to unlock an abundance of recreational opportunities, rebuilding the confidence of Jasperites that Jasper is a wonderful place for families to build a life. Examples of initiatives that can be funded:

  • Develop and deliver new recreation opportunities for the evolving needs of Jasper residents
  • Increase availability or expansion of existing programs where current demand exceeds capacity (i.e. where waitlists for registration persist)
  • Increase access to programming for newcomer families and others who are at risk of exclusion (e.g. youth, older adults, 2SLGBTQIA+, diverse physical or cognitive abilities, low income, unemployed, precariously housed)
  • Create opportunities for Jasper residents to gain skills or experience to enable the pursuit of self-directed recreational activities (e.g. hiking, climbing, skateboarding)
  • Subsidize the purchase of recreational equipment needed to access outdoor opportunities that are unique to this place
  • Build the pipeline of local coaches through increased or enhanced training opportunities and/or recruitment
  • Enable organizations to purchase equipment to allow existing community spaces and assets to be used in new ways to meet evolving community needs
  • Support projects as identified through the application period
