Memorial Benches and Trees

Memorial Bench and Tree Program

The Memorial Bench and Tree Program gives residents the opportunity to recognize or remember someone through a lasting feature in the community.

Applicants can request a memorial bench, memorial tree, or both. Locations are subject to approval and will be considered based on available space, site conditions and operational needs.

Memorial benches

New memorial benches feature a durable design made from recycled materials. As the program moves forward, these benches will gradually replace the original wooden benches installed through the previous memorial bench program.

The cost of a new bench includes the bench, plaque, installation and a one-time maintenance fee covering the bench site for approximately 15 years.

Bench fees

ItemCost
New bench, including plaque and approximately 15 years of maintenance$4,185
Concrete bench base, if required$900
Bench renewal – 15-year maintenance renewal$450
Plaque on a reused bench, including new plaque and 15-year maintenance renewal$1,185

Reused bench placements have a maximum 15-year term.

Memorial trees

Memorial trees are selected and planted by the Municipality of Jasper’s Operations team.

Tree species are chosen based on the planting location to ensure the best fit for the site and to support the long-term health and diversity of Jasper’s urban forest.
